My first impressions of the Lenovo Yoga 13 are very good. After tweaking the settings a little bit I have found that this device may be the perfect hybrid device for me.
What turned me off to the Surface line of tablets was the screen size. 10.6 inch screens makes it very hard to do things like advanced photo editing or other advanced tasks. Therefore, those size tablets wouldn't work for me and most tablets come in at around 10 inches.
My problem was that I still wanted a tablet device to use. The Lenovo Yoga 13 is where I decided to go and I found it is the perfect hybrid device for me. I will go ahead and say that not everyone needs a mobile device to do very advanced computing. If that is you, the Surface Pro or Surface RT may be your thing, but for me having a 13+ inch screen makes my work so much more easy.
Also something the Lenovo has that the Surface devices do not is a good keyboard and track-pad. The Surface with it's touch and type cover make it slightly hard to use when on one's lap. Obviously the Yoga works perfectly for this, it has a traditional laptop form factor. The great thing is that it can transform into different positions and can be used as a tablet as well.
Another thing many people don't like is large screens on a tablet. They want it to be portable, which means it must be lighter and smaller. I am not one of those people. I really like the 13 inch touchscreen on this device, I think it's size is an asset. Even when using my iPad and Surface I was always using it on a desk, in a stand, or on my lap. I never held my iPad or Surface up for long periods of time, so the fact that the Lenovo is much heavier and much larger only makes things better in my opinion.
A full Lenovo Yoga 13 review will be coming this week. Keep checking back because CES is this week, so there will be a lot of news.
