I've been reading various reviews and columns on the Surface RT and found that many of them "claim" that it is more expensive than the iPad. This is an ignorant statement that people believe and disseminate. Is it that people hate Microsoft so much they just decide to flat out lie about the Surface tablet?
Let's look at some prices for the Surface RT base model at $499. The base model includes 32gb of space. The new generation of iPad's at this same capacity, 32 GB, sells for $599. There seems to be a problem with people's claim that the Surface RT is more expensive than the iPad.
For the same price as a 32 GB iPad you can get the Surface 32 GB with a touch keyboard. An iPad with an extra keyboard, say Logitech, would have you spending around $700 in the end. Again, how $599 more expensive than the $700 you'd spend on a 32 GB iPad and keyboard?
Lastly let's look at the 64GB model. The Surface with touch keyboard is $699. The iPad without a keyboard is $699.
I know that the OS and preinstalled apps take up around 15 GB and many people would bring that up, but with expandable storage this is really a non issue for me.
So there we have it, the Surface is actually a better value than the iPad. Is that a shocker? It shouldn't be, but for some reason people try to spread this misconception about it being more expensive and that's the shocker.
